Fixed Asset Accountant
Position Description CGI is seeking a Fixed Asset Accountant to join their CGI Federal General Ledger department. The position has flexibility to grow into a multi-functional position if desired. CGI Federal provides a dynamic and exciting environment to learn and grow.Your future duties and responsibilities Candidate will learn about different asset types, lives, and recording such in compliance with CGI policy and IFRS accounting standards, as well as work with various modules of the Costpoint accounting system. While this role is heavily focused on fixed assets, there will be other general ledger duties. Specific Responsibilities to include (but not limited to): Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures and forms for the recording of fixed assets. Record fixed asset acquisitions, transfers, and dispositions into the accounting system. Keep track of assets in process, such as leasehold improvements, to ensure proper capitalization and in-service dates. Recommend process improvements. Review additions to ensure compliance with CGI policy prior to data entry. Recommend reclass for items that do not qualify as a fixed asset. Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger. Reconciliation of the Fixed Asset Subledger to Asset Tracking System (CFP). Preparation of Adjusting Journal Entries required for Fixed Assets Preparation of Fixed Asset Continuation Schedule for Corporate Preparation of schedules to assist in audit or tax, and respond to inquiries as needed. Preparation and entry of various adjusting journal entries to assist the General Ledger team in multiple different areas. Preparation of IFRS16 entry to record equipment leases. Other duties as assigned.Required qualifications to be successful in this role Bachelors degree in Accounting (preferred) plus three years of experience or equivalent experience in lieu of education.
