Electronics Technician (Handheld Electronic Repair & Maintenance) - Contract to Hire

Our Client, a telecommunications leader, has two openings for LMR Electronics Technicians.These are 3 month contract to hire positions. Seeking candidates with handheld electronic repair/maintenance experience. This is an onsite position in Newington, Virginia. Must be fully vaccinated and able to pass a federal background check. May need to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract. Pay range while on contract is $24-26/hr on W2. Salary range upon conversion is targeted to be $50-55KWork hours: Monday thru Friday from 8AM to 4:30PM local time. Some OT when workload requires.

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:
  • Set up and operate equipment or process including adjusting, rebuilding, or modifying test setups and associated fixtures.
  • Repair, install, modify, train and consult on communications equipment and systems in a company owned service center or at a customer site.
  • Major tasks include troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment problems to component level and developing codeplugs that are customized to customers specific requirements.
  • Discuss equipment operation and problems with customer and management to determine approach and schedule for various activities.
  • Provide documentation of events and status with analysis of actions/results. Create operation manuals/documents for procedures/specifications, prepare job tickets, material request, and trip reports.
  • Must be willing to take on a leadership role to junior level technicians through delegation of work, training, coordination and checking of assignments.
  • Assist other facilities on the "800" tech support line and conduct training at the service center or at field locations.
  • Performance should always reflect Total Customer Satisfaction.

Specific Knowledge/Skills:
  • Must have an advanced knowledge of Astro 25 Conventional and Trunking Secure Systems and customer programming software (CPS) and configuration software
  • Problem solving skills to troubleshoot equipment to component level
  • Good written/oral communications and "people" skills are required.
  • Reliable, prompt, and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to conduct both classroom and field training on servicing procedures.
  • Basic MS DOS, Windows Applications, and PC operating knowledge are necessary
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract
  • FCC License and CET (Certified Electronics Technicians) Associate (or higher) certificate are required.
  • Associates Degree in the area of EE/EET and 4+ years experience with land mobile subscriber equipment or LMR systems

Experience: 8+ years.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Technical associates degree and 4+ years experience as an LMR (Land Mobile Radio) electronic technician.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract
