Position: Advertising Sales Specialist

Department: Sales

Reports To: Regional Sales Manager

Salary Range: $51,248 - $65,341

The Advertising Sales Specialist is responsible for managing a sales project and guiding its overall direction. The Advertising Sales Specialist is responsible for managing the Advertising Coordinator and communicate with departmental staff in the project, as well as senior level management. The Advertising Sales Specialist should be organized and able to meet deadlines on the project. The Advertising Sales Specialist must know how to develop reports on the project and ensure the project is within the budgetary range. The Advertising Sales Specialist is responsible for attending regular meetings and give progress reports. In addition, the Advertising Sales Specialist will work directly with existing and potential new clients.

Essential Job Functions:

Lead team to develop, evaluate, and revise project process.

Review and develop sales proposals in advance to ensure that clients receive the appropriate products, services and rates.

Client retention and securing of new clients.

Negotiation of terms, pricing for sales.

Assists in development of systems to streamline sales processes.

Work directly with Finance Department on sales, invoicing, and revenue reports.

Leverage HRT's assets for regional marketing and advertising of the Hampton Roads Transit brand.

Maintain knowledge of customer status, including the inventory of all rolling stock to prevent any interruption of service.

Work with Legal counsel to maintain contracts, interpretation of client's agreements, contracts, review/address questionable advertisement content in accordance with the advertising policy.

Maintain effective working relationships with interdepartmental and private sector clientele.

Attend associated workshops to increase sales team productivity

Provide insight regarding business trends, market activity and sales results in the development of strategies for achieving results.

Develops and maintains relationships with key customers and attends sales calls as needed.

Ensure the completion and success of customer support across multiple projects.

Responsible for ensuring that artwork is in compliance with HRT Advertising Policy.

Responsible for keeping abreast of national trends in transit advertising as outlined in standards set by APTA

Manage records created and received in compliance with the Hampton Roads Transit Records Management Policy and Procedures.

Responsible for maintaining a general awareness of HRT's EMS

Responsible for handling all related job responsibilities in accordance to HRT's Environmental Policy, relevant EMS Standard Operating Procedures, and Emergency Management Plan

Responsible for ensuring employees in their respective functional areas have adequate training and tools necessary to meet the requirements of the EMS procedures and SOPs

Responsible for observing and evaluating required EMS competencies among employees in their respective functional areas

Prepare and/or coordinate with other departments any documentation required in support of the FTA triennial reviews, drug and alcohol audits, independent audits, state audits, EEO Program audit, etc.

Other duties as assigned.

The ability to analyze information in order to reach valid conclusions and to apply general rules to specific problems and to combine different pieces of information to draw inferences.

Required Software Knowledge and Skills essential to Job Functions:

Proficiency in using computer systems and the listed software applications associated with performance of assigned work is essential. Basic problem solving skills associated with software applications used is expected. Software usage relevant to job duties will be evaluated.

Training and/or Education:

Bachelor's degree in Sales, Finance, or Business Administration required; related experience may be substituted for education.

Required Experience:

Three years of progressive sales and/or financial management experience, preferably in the private sector.

Licenses or Certificates:

Virginia Driver's License
