Planate Management Group is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, USA with a technical support center in the Philippines that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support on mechanical or general engineering site activities. In addition, you will also monitor the progress and compliance of the Project Management Element at Joint Base Charleston, SC.

This position is contingent on the award of the contract.

Key responsibilities:

Provide Technical Support to Contracting Officers Representative, Except in Duties Specifically Identified as Inherently Governmental by Law (FAR 7.503(C)12)

Participate as a voting member on any source selection boards

Approve any contractual documents, to include documents defining requirements, incentive plans, and evaluation criteria

Administer contracts (including ordering changes in contract performance or contract quantities, taking action based on evaluations of contractor performance, and accepting or rejecting contractor products or services)

Review and monitor of project schedules for construction progress with emphasis on milestone completion dates, phasing requirements, workflow, material deliveries, test dates

Take action to identify work that does not conform to the contract requirements and notifying the government when work requires correction

Compile, through site inspections, lists of defects and omissions related to the work performed and providing these lists to the contractor for correction

Provide technical assessment of work completed in accordance with contract documents

Monitor project financial data and budgetary cost accounting

Provide technical consultation to the government in support of administration of construction contract change orders (issuing proposal requests, preparing cost estimates, reviewing cost proposals, assisting agency in negotiations, preparing change order packages for processing)

Schedule, conduct, and document regular progress meetings with all interested parties to review project status, discuss problems, and resolve issues

Schedule, conduct, and document (prepare minutes, etc. for distribution) construction related project meetings

Monitor construction contractor compliance with established safety standards

Monitor construction contractor's compliance with contract labor standards

Coordinate construction activities with customer managers and occupying agency personnel

Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

Bachelors or masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-Accredited Institution

Minimum of five years of experience designing and managing projects involving mechanical engineering work

Knowledge of Air Force and DoD Design Criteria

Able to work with stakeholders in managing projects and resolving problems

General knowledge of other engineering disciplines

Must have an experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
