SUMMARY
We are currently accepting applications for a School Liaison/Education Specialist in our Newport News office. This position is responsible for assisting either refugee or immigrant families with transitioning in the public school system. One full time position available.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to introducing, explaining, and providing resources to new families utilizing public schools for the first time; completing all required intake documentation for new clients; initiating outreach to adults in the refugee or immigrant communities; assisting in enrolling children in school; advocating for the educational needs of the clients in all school related matters; and educating and promoting cross cultural understanding and integration into the community and school system.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent with three years of related experience.
