Maxar is seeking a Senior Director to drive initiatives for our next generation ground systems for satellite imagery. In this role you'll be part of the Next Generation Systems team formed to address strategic capability positioning to ensure our capabilities developed organically and through partnership meet needs across an array of envisioned use cases. These enterprise-scale capabilities power Maxar business systems and some of our product offerings. The Next Generation Systems team drives advanced concepts for next generation capability, launches and oversees investments to ensure those capabilities come to fruition, positions capabilities to support strategic pursuits and works closely with our Strategic Growth organization to establish partnerships. You'll help drive future enterprise architecture, advanced concepts development, accelerated mission delivery timelines, and proposal responses in support of Earth Intelligence missions. You'll play a key role in shaping the strategic direction for our future enterprise systems enabling market competitiveness.

This role can be based remotely in in Herndon, VA, D.C. or Maryland. Remote applicants will be required to demonstrate their ability to be in the Washington DC area on less than a full day's notice to support ad hoc engagements when necessary.

Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with the VP of Next Generation Systems, develop and refine strategies for Maxar's future systems, drive transformative change roadmaps and programs plans, and build both advocacy for and understanding of these disruptive transformations.
  • Coordinate with initiative leaders to organize a program plan to achieve the strategic capability objectives and quarterly key results. These plans include technical development, toolset integrations and process and personnel change management.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders across the Internal Operations, Product and Global Field Operations organization. For some initiatives this will additionally require coordination with Maxar executive leadership.
  • Aid in the development of future state aimpoints for enterprise advanced concepts and transformations. Develop the roadmaps to move the enterprise from current state to desired state. Drive architecture decisions within proposal responses to align those proposals with future architectural aimpoints.
  • Obtain approval of the Investment Governance board for initiative business cases.

Minimum requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess or have recently possessed a current/active TS/SCI security clearance and be willing and able to obtain a CI Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in technical and/or program management roles of Earth intelligence systems. A Master's degree may count as 2 years of experience.
  • Experience as a project manager in planning and management of a technical team
  • Certified as a PMP, at DAWIA Level III, or equivalent in the project management functional area

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current/active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience in leveraging these skills to overcome skepticism and gain trust of impacted stakeholder communities of interest. Demonstrated experience in leveraging the skills to articulate a future vision to customer stakeholder communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to both innovate and transfer that innovation into operations for Earth observation and/or intelligence enterprise-level systems and processes.
  • Deep understanding of and experience with enterprise-scale geospatial systems. This includes comprehension of the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence architecture, DoD and allied architectures, and understanding of current tradecraft and tools within the defense/intelligence enterprise.
  • Demonstrated strong comprehension of the current state of the art for AI/ML for geospatial services and a core understanding of the rate of technological change in computing.
  • Fundamental understanding of multi-INT sensor modalities and their mission applications.
  • Demonstrated experience with and understanding of national-level mission planning, collection management, processing, exploitation and dissemination systems and processes.
