In 2002, the Positive Vibe Foundation a 501 (C)3 Corporation was established with a vision of providing training and meaningful employment for the physically and cognitively disabled work force. The training program began in December 2004 and Max's Positive Vibe Cafe opened in Richmond, VA in January 2005. The program offers training in basic food service skills, communicating in the workplace, interviewing and resume skills, and acquiring and maintaining employment. Students master these skills through hands-on classes as well as completing a 3 shift job internship assessment at Max's Positive Vibe Cafe. Upon graduating from the program the students receive a professional resume and letter of recommendation, and the skills and confidence needed to acquire and keep a job. Students may also apply for advanced training in food prep skills. Over 35% of our graduates have succeeded in obtaining jobs upon completion of the training program.

Hundreds of training graduates have used their new skills and self-confidence to find employment in establishments such as restaurants, catering companies, and country clubs. Many local businesses support our restaurant through donated funds and equipment, as well as allowing their highly skilled staff to assist in our training program.
