Job Description
- Carry out routine GC and GCMS methods in an analytical production laboratory primarily during times of peak volume.
- Carry out research and literature review, and liaison with the client method development team on development, optimization, transfer, and validation of new methods
- Lead special projects as needed and requested; contribute to implementing operational process improvements
- Mentor and train junior scientists
- Perform instrument calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, recognize errors, identify root causes, and maintain excellent working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting
- Meet all quality and productivity metrics
- Apply the highest quality standard in all areas of responsibility; maintain ISO 17025 quality standards and accreditation for the laboratory.
- Review data, data notebooks, logbooks, and reports to ensure highest quality
- Learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and follow WIs and SOPs as written
- Demonstrate strong client service skills
- Proactively plan and maximize productivity
- Demonstrate strong teamwork and collaboration
- Implement operational improvements
- Support and promote company policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant, applicable laboratory experience
- 4-year degree in chemistry or related scientific discipline required
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) preferred.
- In-depth experience using GC and GCMS instrumentation
- Experience working within an established quality system (ISO 17025 preferred)
- Understanding of production laboratory operations
- Experience in method development, instrument troubleshooting, method improvements, process improvements, and training of junior scientists
- Detailed-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills along with demonstrated ability to collaborate with others.
- Strong computer, client service, scientific, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
