Paralegal:Workers Compensation Law (Henrico Virginia)

Virginia, Richmond 00000 Richmond USA

Vacancy expired!

On the Search for WINNERS who just happen to be Paralegals!

If you are an experienced Paralegal and have worked in a law office before (basically, we're looking for someone who can "speak our language", we may have the job you're looking for. . .

But before I delve into what the job is, I want you to get a sense of the type of person we are looking for to fill this particular position.

We WANT to work with you if:

1. You are comfortable answering the phone with a smile, even on a crummy day that you found out your favorite TV show got cancelled, you got into a fender bender, and you found out that you're going to have to hire a handyman to fix your water heater (which means you only had cold water for the shower that morning).

2. You are confident in the fact that law firms help people, and you would be willing to excitedly tell other people that you work at a workers compensation law firm (and a great one at that).

3. You like having systems for how things are done, AND you can competently and comfortably make decisions within that system. You are able to make proactive choices based on the information you already know.

4. When you go to work, you check your ego and your drama at the door. Work can be a fun place, but it's called work, so you go there to work. You also like people who appreciate this kind of work ethic.

5. You are a LEARNER. You want to learn new things, take on new challenges, and grow within your role. New responsibilities and new information excite you (even if it is a little daunting at first). You are willing to ask for help if you need it, even if it means owning up to something that you did wrong.

6. You like working with a smart, high energy attorney who handles 120 plus cases with you and a legal assistant. Never a dull moment, every case is different and has multiple moving parts to make it interesting as well as exciting. Especially when your client wants to to shower you with love for getting their life back in some sort of order.

We DO NOT want to work with you if:

1.You spend your workdays monitoring Buzzfeed, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and whatever else is out there.

2.You are scared of accepting responsibility for your work.

3.You don't like, (and hesitate) making decisions and are always asking, "Is this okay?"

4.You resent the success of other people, have a big ego, and/or consider yourself a jealous person.

5.You hate the idea of having fun AFTER working hard.

6.You can't show up on time.

7.You think that you deserve a paycheck just by showing up.

8.You're stuck in your ways, OR you're always re-inventing the way things are done just because you think your ideas are always better.

If you've made it to this sentence, then you're hopefully like many of the folks we have hired in the past who have been successful with us, and you are thinking to yourself, "This is the first job ad I've seen that actually sounds interesting."

You would be right! (And we have happy employees to prove it!)

The position we are filling is interesting but demanding and challenging. It would require you to be a paralegal for a very competent attorney who wrote the book on how to get cases settled successfully using a proven method that other law firms would die for. A system that works!

You would be on the phone talking to a client one minute and then handling sending out extremely urgent demand packages to insurance companies the next but wait. . . You were interrupted while sending out a package with another phone call! This time it's a current client who is frustrated that his case isn't moving faster! Can you think quickly, keep your cool, and be capable of finishing up your task after talking with someone who is mistakenly directing his or her frustrations at you (instead of the insurance company which is dragging its feet)?

Yes? Then we really want to talk with you!

So far, it probably all sounds pretty tough, right?

Well, here's some really good news for you. . .

We are fair. If you get your work done (on time), we will get along great and believe it or not, there is even some fun to be had at our office.

You won't just be an anonymous employee. We are a small firm, so everyone is a noted contributor to our success. You will have an actual impact on the business (because a law practice is still a business after all).

We aren't yellers. No one is running around red in the face screaming at people. That's just not how we do things. We think that if it's gotten to the point that someone is ready to yell, it means that communication or a system broke down some time ago that needs to be fixed and yelling right now doesn't fix it.

You'll have your own desk, and we'll make sure that you have what need at that desk to be successful (technology and other supplies).

Everyone likes that we have soda and coffee available to everyone who works there, so I guess it's worth mentioning.

We play as a team. We back each other up and we help each other out. If there's a problem, then you can bring it to someone for help (AFTER you've tried to fix it yourself first, of course).

We believe in treating you well. We want you to be able to go home on time. We aren't going to call you into the office on a weekend. (Really? In a law firm you ask? Yes!). We are fair in our vacation policy, and we do our best to be understanding about what can normally happen in a person's life (but within reason and we will not be taken advantage of). We want things to run smoothly and efficiently at our firm, so we'll put resources into helping you be able to do your job better.

The basic requirements are:

Law Firm Experience/knowledge in Workers Compensation law with

-Strong organizational skills.

-Capable of working quickly and efficiently.

-Ability to follow directions.

-Productively works under little supervision.

-Superb customer service experience, on phone and in person.

Plus,

1. You need to be able to write well in English with proper grammar.

2. You need to be able to meet deadlines.

3. You need to be able to multi-task (real multi-tasking, not "I'm pretending to be busier than I am" multi-tasking).

4. You need to have a good phone voice.

5. You need to have a system for yourself to prioritize tasks.

In order to submit your application for this position, here is what you need to do.

Send a cover letter describing why you would like this job and what in this job posting spoke the most to you personally (and don't just write a couple of paragraphs put some thought into it), along with your resume, to Bob by EMAIL ONLY.

SUBJECT LINE WRITE: I'D LOVE TO WORK FOR YOU!

He will contact you about the next steps if we like what we see.

BONUS: If there is anything else that you think you would want to send in with your application (a recording of you pretending to answer a phone at a law office, a video resume, whatever else you can think of), we will take a look. It's not required, but we aren't going to restrict you from being creative.
