We are a family-run, woman-owned law firm looking for a new full-time attorney to add to our growing team.
This position works out of our Richmond, Virginia office. This opening is for an Associate Attorney position that primarily practices in General District Court. This will include handling mostly Traffic cases (DUI, Reckless Driving, Speeding etc.) and misdemeanor criminal defense (drug possessions). It is a great position for someone that wants to develop their trial skills because you are in court, on your feet, five days per week and you meet most judges, prosecutors and criminal defense attorneys in Central Virginia. Although we’d love to make a permanent connection, we understand this position serves as a good stepping stone to handling more serious criminal cases or developing the skills to continue in any type of trial practice after a few years if that's what you should want to pursue.
Qualified candidates will be self-motivated, organized, have the ability to work independently, and possess a willingness to make regular court appearances in a 50 mile radius of Richmond (we provide a company car and gas card). You must also type a minimum of 65 words per minute (it's a fast-paced environment and you need to make notes about cases quickly). Also, you obviously must have an active Virginia bar license. Recent bar admittees are welcome to apply as well as those with experience in criminal defense or as public defenders.
Compensation package includes mostly a base salary plus bonuses, bar dues, malpractice insurance, 50% of employee’s health insurance, gas card, use of company car, retirement plan, dental, vision, life insurance, CLE’s, holidays and paid-time off, some professional organization dues.
