Leads significant organizational change initiatives to improve clinical quality, efficiency, effectiveness, timeliness, patient satisfaction and financial performance. Plan and leads the most complex improvement, structural reorganization, and implementation processes. Provides advice and training on the development, administration and technical aspects of the organization s improvement efforts at all levels. Assist clinical and non-clinical personnel in assessing work and identifying areas/processes for improvement and executing improvement plans. Provides direction and training for Performance Improvement Facilitators and Consultants.

Works cooperatively with Senior administrative and clinical leadership to (a) identify improvement opportunities in the most complex, multi system environments using state of the art analytical tools and current best practices, (b) establish expectations for improvement initiatives, and (c) determine resources (financial, staff, data, management) needed to accomplish goals (d) facilitate and implement complex improvement/ change plans. Provides direction for administrative and clinical project leaders in developing teams, creating implementation plans, and executing strategies necessary to fulfill complex improvement assignments. Provides direction to all stakeholders including PI Consultants when needed. Consults with others, formally and informally, regarding organizational or process change and project management solutions to problems and/or barriers. Provides leadership in demonstrating and communicating success, progress, organizational learning. Leads organizational learning efforts regarding process improvement and project management. Serves as an educational resource to others in the organization for projects and management education. Applies/teaches Statistical Process Control, Lean, Six-Sigma, or other quantitative and qualitative tools, as appropriate for each assignment Applies/teaches process analysis/design and improvement methods to unit staff and other frontline groups. Stays informed of advancements in process improvement and project management approaches. Mentors others in understanding and execution of the consulting process and any relevant tools, techniques, or processes as required. Anticipates needs and uses the consulting process to develop collaborative solutions, evaluate outcomes and take appropriate corrective actions with minimal direction.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent 8 years of experience required. Master s preferred in health science/management, business, industrial engineering or organizational change.

Experience: Five years experience demonstrating skill leading, planning, and implementing strategic projects or Process Improvement/ Blackbelt projects in complex organizational environments required. Applied knowledge of systems theory, six sigma, project management, lean management, systems dynamics, process design, human factors, ergonomics, and social dimensions for change.

License/Certification: Certification in Six Sigma Black Belt, Change Management, Project Management (PMP), Lean, quality function deployment, related field or progressive plan to acquire approved certification in one year. Must be licensed to legally operate a motor vehicle in Virginia or otherwise have the ability to move independently among Carilion sites.

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate process change, flexible solutions to problems and organizational learning. Ability to facilitate solutions in groups of diverse stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational ability, and initiative. Ability to lead and produce positive outcomes in a changing, unstructured work environment. Proven ability to understand and apply various analytical tools. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office software and able to learn other software as needed. Must be able to work with minimal amount of supervision. Ability to travel to necessary off-site work location required.
