HopeTree Family Services has immediate openings for Full-Time-Day and Overnight Residential Behavior Specialists on our Salem, VA campus serving at-risk youth and teens ages 11-17 in a therapeutic residential setting. The positions will work on a rotating schedule:

Day - 10:00 am - 11:00 pm

Overnight - 6:00 pm - 7:30 am

Responsibilities:

Direct responsibility for guidance and supervision of at-risk youth and teens in a therapeutic residential setting

Provide social, behavioral, vocational and academic opportunities for learning

Facilitates the day-to-day schedules, groups, discipline and progress of youth

Oversees physical care of youth, development of acceptable habits and attitudes and managing behaviors

Models appropriate behavior and attitude for residents and co-workers

Assists in meeting the goals and objectives required of Individual Service Plans (ISP)

Maintains a healthy, safe environment for resident both emotionally and physically

Sets limits for residents and provides appropriate discipline

Handles crisis situation and interventions appropriately

Self-motivated and takes initiative to handle situation as needed

Observes professional boundaries with residents, families and co-workers

Reads, understands and implements licensure standards and HopeTree Family Services policy

Stays awake during shirt and provides adequate supervision or residents in his/her care and knows their whereabouts at all times. Completes resident checks every 15 minutes

Transportation of residents

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Human Services is required

Strong verbal and written communication skills and computer skills

Ability to function as part of a team

Have demonstrated, through previous life and work experiences, an ability to maintain a stable environment and to provide guidance to children in the age range for which they will be responsible

Must have knowledge of adolescent behaviors and appropriate boundaries with clients

Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Must have the ability to represent HopeTree Family Services in a positive manner within the community
