HopeTree Family Services has an opening for a Full-Time Direct Support Professional working in our Community Engagement Program. This particular program is part of our Developmental Disabilities Ministry (DDM) in Salem, VA, serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday Friday. Candidates must be available to work occasional weekends depending on client needs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Providing a secure and responsive environment that enables each individual to maximize his/her physical, emotional, and intellectual capabilities
Providing transportation to scheduled community outings that provide learning opportunities for the individuals to acquire, retain, or improve skills necessary to build positive social and intellectual skills as well as improve independence necessary for community living.
Qualifications and Skills:
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Experience or education in mental health, human services or related field is preferred
Demonstrated leadership ability, emotional maturity and patience necessary to understand and accept the social, psychological and emotional needs of adults with developmental disabilities
Good verbal, written and computer skills
Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid drivers license, and acceptable driving record
Must have the ability to represent HopeTree Family Services in a positive manner within the community
Background checks and pre-employment drug testing will be required
