Job Summary:
HopeTree Family Services has openings for Instructional Assistants in our HopeTree Academy on our Salem campus. This position will be approximately 30 hours per week available throughout the 2018-2019 school year. The Instructional Assistant will be responsible for completing assignments assigned by the teacher, implementing lessons designed by the teacher, carrying out all duties and educational plans as assigned, managing student behaviors in the classes assigned, as well as giving individualized educational assistance to selected students according to their unique learning needs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develops a good professional relationship with all students in order to help them with school concerns, adjustment problems, making effective realistic goals
- Assists with all classroom duties, activities, etc. as well as responsibility of implementing the lesson plans as prepared and directed by the teacher
- Gives teachers organizational support in organizing supplies in the classroom
- Supervises students on arrival, departure, and during break times
- Gives teachers behavior management support such as observing and charting student behavior
- Provides positive reinforcement and support to teachers
- Demonstrated ability to work with supervisors and fellow educators to accomplish desired results
Qualifications and Skills:
- A college degree and teaching or teacher's aid experience with special education and/or "at risk" populations are preferred
- Must have good verbal, written, and computer communication
- Must pass pre-employment drug test
