SUMMARY

This position is responsible for recruiting, scheduling, and training interpreters and translators for agency clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruits and screens for qualified interpreters.

Provides orientation and guidelines for interpreting.

Develops, evaluates, and updates testing and training materials for interpreters.

Develops and maintains a pool of testers for different languages

Provides initial training to develop interpreter skills.

Conducts follow-up meetings and trainings for interpreters at least twice a year.

Maintains and updates database of available interpreters.

Periodically evaluates interpreters' performance.

Markets Interpreter and Translation Services to agencies in the community.

Promotes language bank through development of educational materials and programs on Title VI compliance.

Negotiates and secures contracts for Interpretation Services with agencies in the community where possible.

Develops and maintains system of notification, confirmation, evaluation and invoicing of job requests.

Responds to requests for interpretation in a timely, professional manner.

Reviews and updates fee schedule to remain competitive in the community as needed.

Develops and conducts training for staff, employers, and community groups on the effective use of interpreters.

Develops an evaluation tool and conduct customer satisfaction inquiries and modify the program as necessary.

Continually assess community needs for interpreters.

Serves as primary liaison between the agency, client, and interpreters.

Schedules interpreter assignments.

Files correspondence, forms, and documents as needed.

Photocopies correspondence or other printed matter.

Represents the Agency in the community and workplace in a professional and ethical manner.

Demonstrates sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving, oral, and written skills.

Utilizes a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent required with three years of related experience.
