HopeTree Family Services has an opening for a Teacher/Education Assessment Coordinator in our HopeTree Academy on our Salem campus. The Education Assessment Coordinator will perform a variety of assessment activities with residents and day students who attend HopeTree Academy. This individual will consult with teaching staff and Residential Behavior Specialists information related to initial assessments, SOL and GED testing results in order to optimize their education effectiveness with students.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Performs Initial Assessments on all students entering HopeTree Academy
Possesses and utilizes knowledge of an advanced type and exercises independent discretion and judgment in the field(s) of expertise
Performs pre and post (basic skill) achievement, social and self-concept testing
Performs GED placement tests on selected students at the request of the Education Administrator
Administers SOL testing
Administers other education and vocational surveys as recommended by Virginia Department of Education and VAISEF regulations, standards and modules
Assists in creating and maintaining a professional and educational environment
Attends staffing, licensing accreditation, and other professional meetings as requested
Participates on educational committees as requested
Attends minimum of 36 hours per year of professional development training in order to enhance professional abilities as required by licensure recertification standards
Qualifications and Skills:
A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Special Education from an accredited college or university is required.
Experiences in administering diagnostic educational and vocational tests, surveys, etc. as well as teaching a variety of at riskĀ and disabled students at the middle and secondary school levels are preferred
Must pass pre-employment drug test
