Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer for Virginia and southern West Virginia, is seeking a Programmer/Analyst at our Salem, Virginia corporate headquarters. This position is responsible for producing and keeping clear, concise code and ensuring that our programs come to life in a functional, flawless, and efficient manner. Must be consistent in your process, communicate effectively, and finish projects in a timely manner. The Programmer/Analyst provides support and maintenance for Carter Machinery Information Systems applications. You will work with users, managers, and business analysts to identify requirements and provide automated solutions that are sustainable, well written, tested and documented. This includes assisting in the development of interfaces between in-house written and commercial software. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in computer programming, computer science, information systems or a related field. Seeking candidates with 2+ years of programming experience, and Microsoft Office Stack (SharePoint, .Net, SQL, and PowerShell.) Should have proven mastery of use in at least one coding language.
Requirements:
Self-starter able to work with limited supervision; strong, independent work ethic.
Work in a Lean, Agile development environment.
Develop custom applications using approved coding languages and tools.
Work as a support and development resource, meeting timelines and deliverables as assigned.
Assist in the installation of software patches, service packs, and updates.
Utilize software tools for documentation and communication.
May assist in development, testing, and deployment of handheld devices.
Perform relational database management systems work as needed.
Professional manner and accountable for work performed; results driven.
Efficient and accurate coder.
Adept problem solver.
Excellent database management skills
Able to provide on-call support on an as needed basis.
Must meet physical requirements for the job, including the ability sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Able to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 20 pounds in weight.
