The University of Virginia Darden School of Business, one of the world's leading business schools, seeks a full-time Media Academic Support Engineer to join its audiovisual team. This positio n is located in-person at Darden's Sands Family Grounds in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia.

This role requires a commitment to work weekends and some evenings.

Specific duties and responsibilities:
  • Record, plan, and fulfill audiovisual requests, including supplemental classroom equipment setups, event microphone/speaker setups, classroom recordings and web conference setup and monitoring.
  • Perform room tours to ensure all AV equipment/software is working properly, and repair/adjust equipment/software as necessary.
  • Respond to help requests to troubleshoot potential AV issues. Meet with clients, identifies issues and provides solutions.
  • Provide audiovisual training for faculty, staff, and students related to equipment in rooms or equipment available for sign out. Create training documentation/help guides.
  • Install new audiovisual equipment for Darden enterprise. Review installation instructions, install product, review feature list, catalog in inventory database.
  • Work closely with AV integrators/architects/construction contractors for major AV installations.
  • Troubleshoot audiovisual equipment/software issues. Make decisions to repair or replace.
  • Participate in staff meetings with Digital Infrastructure team and perform audiovisual research. Explore and identify new innovative tools or processes that could benefit the Darden enterprise.
  • Co-manage AV equipment and software infrastructure for Sands Family Grounds. Review, track use, calculate replacement schedule, and play major role in strategic planning for AV infrastructure enhancement/replacement over multi-year timeline.

Professional Experience and E ducation:
  • Associate's degree with at least five years of experience required. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of audiovisual experience preferred.
  • Programming skills recommended - especially coding for Crestron devices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with technical and non- technical clients and staff.
  • Audiovisual, networking, computer, and mobile device technical expertise, and ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate on a team.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship and teamwork skills.
