Maintains a data/voice drop record system and must assist on problems in the South western region of Bristol and Salem Virginia. Candidate will be centrally located in the region and frequently travel to various VDOT offices around the area of Salem and Bristol Districts for scheduled tasks. Candidate should have 12+ year’s experience in the field. Capable of installing structured cabling systems in fiber (multi-mode, single-mode, ribbon) / Copper (Cat.5E, Cat.6, Cat.6E) and Coax to high quality standards in multi-campus environments for locations in the Southwest Region of Virginia. Must be able to identify and correct existing substandard infrastructure, as well as install new infrastructure for Data/Voice systems. Engineer, test and certifies all LAN/WAN, fiber and copper connections. Maintains records of all data/voice drops, prints of data/voice installations, and implements changes to the network records when needed. Troubleshoot and manages problem resolution for all Data/Voice infrastructures. Oversee contractor services for network installations and insures that all work is completed to bid price/time schedule. Schedules and manages requests for LAN//WAN and voice cable connections to BICSI specifications. Experience level as a Lead Tech II with certifications on installing and testing Fiber/Copper. Experience desired using Fluke Fusion Splicer (fiber) along with Fluke testing equipment preferred but experience with other test equipment will be acceptable. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with customers, vendors and staff.
