Weatherization Laborer

Job Description

Supports weatherization crew to improve energy efficiency of homes to reduce monthly utility costs of low income and at-risk participants.

1. Assist with installing insulation materials such as vapor barriers, loose, blanket, board, and foam insulation to attics, crawl spaces, basements, or walls.2. Assist with sealing air ducts, combustion air openings, or ventilation openings to improve heating and cooling efficiency.3. Assist with repairs and replaces primary windows and doors when necessary.4. Assist repairs and seals roofs of manufactured homes.5. Assist with sealing and insulating air ducts and water lines with insulating materials.6. Installs energy efficient light bulbs, smoke alarms, and carbon monoxide detectors.7. Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.8. Assist with loading and unloading materials and all other duties as assigned by the Weatherization Crew Leader

Qualifications

No formal education is required but must be able to follow standard practices and instructions, keep routine records and communicate with staff and customers Must take the Lead Safe Weatherization Course within six months of hire date Must obtain OSHA 10 Certification within six months of hire date Must take the Retrofit Installer Technician Course within six months of hire date

Skills and Abilities

Familiarity with hand tools is a plus.

Additional Information

Construction setting; exposure to extreme heat or cold; should dress appropriately for setting. Frequent work in cramped working spaces, performing awkward motions in different positions. Frequently kneeling, crouching, stooping, bending, twisting, and crawling. Occasional exposure to high places such as attics and roof tops The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. Lifting up to 75 lbs.
