Maxar is seeking a creative and driven Software Developer to join our team supporting a customer on-site. The focus of this position will be to contribute to the development of data collection, data analytics, data visualization, and user workflow automation. This position provides the opportunity to work with a number of large data sets and create solutions addressing the critical needs of the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense. You'll be able to work directly with the customer to understand their mission needs and derive solutions. Development tasks will include collecting, parsing, managing, analyzing, and visualizing large sets of data to extract meaningful knowledge. Additionally, tasking will include work with cloud-based processing technologies and emerging data science techniques.

We are looking for a new team member that works well in a team environment, but can be self-motivated, and is comfortable digging into data, trying innovative approaches, and isn't afraid to fail fast and move on to other techniques/ideas.

This work will be focused on classified data and will be performed at a customer site in Springfield, VA with periodic opportunities for remote/unclassified work.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with cloud tech stacks to parse, ingest and visualize geospatial-temporal data sets (big and small).
  • Develop analytics/derivative data products to help users extract meaningful knowledge.
  • Work directly with users throughout the IC/DoD to understand their requirements and propose a technical solution.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI with willingness to get CI Polygraph.
  • Bachelors Degree in IT or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience.
  • Experience with Java, Python, NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with development tools such as Git, Eclipse, Maven.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Desired Skills:
  • Master's Degree in IT or related field and 7+ years of experience.
  • Experience with ElasticSearch, Kibana.
  • Experience with geospatial tools, techniques, processing, visualization.
  • Knowledge of big data toolsets - Hadoop, Spark, Accumulo/HBase, etc.
