- Installing and upgrading Linux/Unix system software on company servers and computers.
- Creating LINUX/UNIX file systems.
- Setting up and maintaining LINUX/UNIX user accounts and access management systems to include root permissions and access
- Implementing network and computer system policies.
- Detecting and troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
- Responding to user requests and software errors.
- Supporting application owners with troubleshooting Linux/Unix based applications
- Monitoring the performance of the system and server.
- Ensuring backup and recovery policies are in place with support of the enterprise storage team
- Setting up and monitoring security policies (ie STIG)
- Applying patches and upgrades when necessary.
- Familiarity working in a virtualized environment leveraging VMware products
- 10+ years of specialized experience with progressively complex computer systems
- Comfortable leading a team, as part of a team, and/or as an individual as required
- Previous experience as a LINUX/UNIX system administrator.
- Knowledge of LINUX/UNIX and LINUX/UNIX operating systems, storage environments, file systems, and network protocols.
- Detailed knowledge of LINUX/UNIX principles, file editing, LINUX/UNIX commands, and file manipulation.
- Familiarity with Windows, LINUX/UNIX, LINUX/UNIX, and LINUX/UNIX shell scripting.
- Knowledge of networking principles including routing, subnets, TCP, IP, VLANs, and UDP.
- Understanding of backup procedures and storage management.
- In-depth knowledge of computer hardware systems including circuit boards, memory modules, and processors.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Required: Current DoD 8570 - IAT Level II
- Required: Top Secret/SCI-level adjudication
