The primary purpose of this position is to lead engineering activities on enterprise database systems and services . Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, database maintenance, design; standards-based implementation, security, systems integration, capacity planning, process / procedure development and refinement, and technical support.
Essential Functions- Recommend solutions and lead the implementation of systems in a phased approach of requirements analysis, system design review, build, integration, and testing.
- Accountable for providing escalation support to troubleshoot, maintain systems and resolve issues and outages.
- Develop and maintain proper documentation including configuration specifics and procedures, for implementation and ongoing operation/maintenance of solutions.
- Perform routine operational tasks, verifying the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all resources, systems, and key processes.
- Interact with senior engineers, management, and other stakeholders to identify areas of improvement for operational efficiency.
- Advocate for compliance with Security, Incident Management and Change Management procedures and reporting practices.
- Recommend new and emerging technologies to improve manual processes
- Provide advice, guidance, and assistance to junior engineers in order to develop staff capabilities.
- Participates in on-call 24x7 support as needed in the event of system outage or failure.
- Ten (10) years experience administering Microsoft SQL Server including in a clustered/Always-On Environment
- Experience with at least one of the following: Oracle, Postgres, MySQL
- Proficient with SQL and ETL operations as well as ODBC
- Experience optimizing SQL performance and resolving resource contention issues
- Solid understanding of data classification and encryption concepts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with all levels of audience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with team members.
- Effective time management, independent strong problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
- Experience with basic Windows and Linux system administration
- Microsoft MCSA Database Administration
