Basic Purpose Act as trusted senior level advisor on technology trends, design patterns, and state-of-the art capabilities in the data management and analytics domains to facilitate the transition towards modernized data ecosystem. Research, evaluate, design, and implement strategies and technical roadmaps for enterprise data ecosystems in alignment with NFCUs strategic imperatives and corporate mission. Lead the coordination of activities between multiple disciplines within IT and vendors on both technical and non-technical issues pertaining to computer system hardware and software, network infrastructure, peripheral evaluation, and integration. Considered subject matter expert and a key stakeholder/key contributor on highly complex initiatives and project teams. Conduct complex work assignments under general direction. Mentor EDIM team members of all levels on best practice approaches to building enterprise scale data lakes, data hubs, data warehouses and data integration pipelines.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with key stakeholders in Enterprise Architecture, InfoSec, Cloud & Platform Engineering, Digital Engineering, and Mission Data to align and drive Navy Federal's data modernization and data engineering strategies with Navy Federal business and ISD strategic goals• Lead the design, development and socialization of data ingestion/data integration patterns and associated standards and best practices• Lead the formation of cross organizational communities of practice to enable federated development activities for data integration pipelines.• Partner with Enterprise Architecture to define, document, and manage the technology strategy and roadmap for Enterprise Data & Information Management technologies• Conduct targeted research into emerging technologies within the Enterprise Data & Information Management domain and generate recommendations for technology evaluations and roadmap additions• Build and maintain relationships with team members, management, key stakeholders and/or external contacts (vendors, etc.)• Participate and collaborate on design reviews to assess the integrity and quality of proposed technical solutions• Develop and apply architectural governance based on business and information technology strategies• Develop architectural documentation and/or artifacts for use in technology projects, mentoring, internal training and product evaluation• Develop technical solutions for enterprise scale operational data hubs, data lakes and data warehousing systems and functions that align with Navy Federal strategies• Develop/apply architectural reference patterns that guide the selection, development, implementation and use of information technology within the enterprise• Ensure EDIM standards and best practices consistently applied• Plan, develop, review and enforce enterprise architectural standards• Provide forward thinking technical expertise in current and emerging technologies, trends and practices• Provide technical leadership in the architecture discipline and development of information technology solutions • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience• Extensive experience (10 or more years) in one or more of the following: data engineering, enterprise data lake design & build, data warehousing, master data/reference data management, systems/software engineering, information systems management, etc. at the enterprise level in a large multi-function organization, preferably at a large financial services organization• Extensive experience with Object Oriented Programming languages (e.g., C#, C, C, Java, Python, .NET, etc.)• Extensive experience with private, public and hybrid cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, etc.)• Extensive experience in working with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, etc.)• Extensive experience in building data integration processes across common platforms (e.g., Service Now, Pega, SharePoint Online, Salesforce, etc.)• Extensive knowledge and experience in master data/reference data technologies and implementation approaches• Extensive experience with Agile software development practices including Scrum, JIRA, Peer Review, Git and CI/CD• Extensive experience with Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux server operating systems• Extensive experience with modern network enabled relational databases• Expert knowledge of Unix and Linux systems• Expert knowledge of databases, NoSQL systems, storage and distributed persistence technologies• Expert knowledge of continuous integration and deployment and tools chain (e.g., GIT, Jenkins, Maven, RunDeck, Terraform, Ansible, etc.)• Expert knowledge of discipline engineering principles, practices, and theories, and methods to identify and solve the highest complex problems and perform sophisticated analyses• Expert knowledge of system engineering design methods including requirements analysis and flowdown, specification derivation and interface control documentation• Expert knowledge and understanding of the end-to-end IT process, including architecture, design & engineering, implementation, and operations• Extensive experience in developing scripts or applications to automate systems implementation, configuration, or management• Expert troubleshooting skills and ability to identify root causes of issues and provide solutions• Expert knowledge of project lifecycles and management methodologies• Extensive experience in cloud migration and engineering cloud centric environments• Extensive experience leading systems analysis, design, and architecture efforts• Extensive experience with system architectures in a service oriented and enterprise service business environment• Self-motivated and proactive, able to learn quickly and apply new concepts, tools and applications• Demonstrated ability to solve complex system/integration problems through innovative solutions• Expert problem solving, collaboration, critical thinking, team building, and presentation skills• Expert skill applying innovative approaches to solve technical design issues• Expert verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills

• Expert knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products, and services• Expert knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, programs, policies and procedures

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
