Client: Washington Gas (This client is one of our best client we placed 12+ candidates here in the last 2 months) Position: Data Analyst / Data Scientist / Strategic Analyst / Quantitative Analyst (Senior or Specialist level) Location: 8614 Westwood Center Dr Ste 1200 Vienna VA 22182 (Office 1 day a week please check with candidate) Duration: 6 month C2H Background check?: Yes full background and drug screen Vaccination required?: Yes Interview Process/# of Rounds: 2 Round Why the role is open: Newly created role Job Description: Quantitative Analyst WGL Energy is looking for a Quantitative Analyst to serve as a data analysis and operational process expert for our retail electricity, natural gas, and renewables business. The level of this role (Senior or Specialist ) will be commensurate with the selected candidate s qualifications. You Will

  • Work with Operations and IT to improve existing gas and electric models (e.g., pricing) and develop new models as necessary.
  • Lead efforts to ensure proper statistical representation of gas and electric customers including the relationship to weather.
  • Update and maintain data integrity for weather, electric retail profile, and PJM price & load information.
  • Develop and update data queries utilizing SQL, Visual Basic, or other methods to collect data from LDCs, ISOs, and WGL Energy Oracle database.
  • Review and compare proprietary model forecasts to actual results. Make recommendations based upon differences.
  • Engage in day-to-day pricing analysis, risk analysis, and hedging analysis for operations daily balancing and portfolio hedging requirements.
  • Price, monitor, and provide performance reports for WGL Energy Blanket Bill gas products.
  • Coordinate the daily closing process within the company s trade management system including updating gas & power open positions and price curves.
  • Design, implement, and document processes and reports that improve the efficiency of areas both inside and outside of WGL Energy Operations.
  • Analyze historical energy market components to aid strategies to accurately reflect costs in pricing models, lower costs where possible, and lower risk associated with cost variability.
You Have
  • Bachelor s Degree in engineering, finance, math, statistics, economics, or other quantitative discipline or equivalent work experience. Master s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with data analysis and understanding of financial markets theory and derivatives.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical modeling skills. Must be an expert in Excel/VBA development.
  • Oracle experience is a plus.
  • SQL and programming languages such as VBA.
  • Energy industry experience is a plus.
