HNTB is seeking a Field Technical Specialist IIIin our Bellevue, WAoffice.Job SummaryPrimarily responsible for observing contractor's work to monitor the projects compliance with contract documents and report findings. Coordinates and monitors the inspection efforts of inspection staff in their assigned areas of responsibilities on small to mid size projects to determine that Contractor's construction activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design plans, specifications and contractual requirements. May provide guidance and training to inspection staff. Monitors contractor's construction progress as compared to overall project and contract schedule.Essential Responsibility
Performs/observes on-site material testing.
Produces as-constructed schedules.
Mentors and trains staff.
Reads and interprets contract documents.
Prepares Inspectors Daily Report of contractors work.
Responsible for maintaining as constructed drawings.
Performs complicated mathematical calculations.
Monitors contractors progress and analyzes it against progress schedule.
Initiates field changes to drawings and specifications.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic QualificationBachelor's degree in Engineering4 years construction related experienceEITAll jurisdictional certifications as requiredGeneral Work ConditionsField Environment: Work is frequently performed in a field environment in which there is consistent exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.Work frequently requires working at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in a field environment. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment, and doing extensive walking.Depending on the specific project, the job may require climbing to various elevations, ability to bend, twist and turn in close clearances, and crawl into confined spaces to perform required work. Select jobs may require work near heavy construction equipment, railroad right of ways, bridges, construction sites, tunnels and airport runways. Work environment may require use of construction/inspection safety equipment including fall equipment.
