Dining room assistant, part-time

Description: As a dining room assistant at CHCC, you will help those we care for to get the nutrition they need to remain healthy and strong. This is an entry-level healthcare role, and CHCC will provide the training you need.

Shifts: Approximately 10 to 18 hours per week, scheduled monthly in advance. Must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays, either 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., or 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Also, one to two weekday evenings from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

Responsibilities:

Transport residents to and from the dining room.

Prepare food for the elderly (such as cut meat) and serve beverages.

Records food and fluid intake.

Offer positive encouragement and friendly conversation to individuals during mealtimes.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Must be able to obtain a Dining Room Assistant Certificate (training provided by CHCC).

High school diploma/GED is preferred.

A Washington Food Worker Card.

Able to lift and carry general supplies that typically weigh less than 20 pounds.

Able to push residents in wheelchairs that typically weigh less than 200 pounds.

Skills:

Desire to work with the elderly population.

Have a positive working rapport with fellow staff members, patients and residents.

Able to create and maintain a comfortable, warm and friendly atmosphere.

Able to verbally communicate in a pleasant, professional manner.

Detail-oriented, excellent organizational skills.

Able to be self-directed and work independently, but also function as a team member.
