Do you want to work with a legal staff that treats each other like family? We are a small, low-stress law firm in Blaine, WA with a small-town practice serving a cosmopolitan clientele from both sides of the border.

Experience, intelligence and a good sense of humor are important qualities. Some experience in real estate transactions, business formation, civil litigation, estate planning and probate is essential. Prior exposure to family law and criminal law a plus, but not required. Those without any legal experience should not apply.

Wage depends on experience. Transportation stipend available for commuters to Blaine. Benefits package provided.

JOB DUTIES:

Prepare and edit correspondence, legal pleadings and other documents, with attorney supervision.

Create and maintain legal files and records.

Manage litigation and office calendars.

Assist in filing pleadings, recording documents, and arranging service of process.

Assist in client communication, fact development, and limited computer-assisted legal research.

Perform investigative work (research facts, gather discovery, access databases etc.) as requested.

Answer telephones and greet clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook and be open to learning new software applications.

Possess good organizational/time management skills: successfully manage multiple duties/tasks and deadlines and prioritize work.

Be accurate and detail oriented.

Use and operate office machines such as copiers, scanners, etc. effectively.

Appreciate cultural and ethnic diversity

Manage stress and work calmly under pressure.

Must have independent transportation to Blaine, WA.

Bilingual preferred, but not required.

HOURS OF WORK: 8:30 a.m. “ 5:00 p.m. with 1-hour lunch, Monday through Friday
