Description:Providence is calling a Psyc Emergency Services Counselor (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week Variable Shift) to the Psychiatric Emergency Department at Providence Centralia in Centralia, Washington.Apply Today! Applicants that meet qualifications will receive a text with some additional questions from our Modern Hire system.We are seeking a Psyc Emergency Services Counselor who will provide crisis management; intervention; an emergent clinical evaluation; information; follow-up referrals; and discharge planning to patients and families who present in the Emergency Center with a wide variety of psychiatric, chemical addiction, and psych-social problemsIn this position you will:Perform crisis triage:
Assess immediate safety of the patient and the environment.
Assess acuity of patient clinical issues and prioritize responsibilities as appropriate.
Explains and establishes safety rules and information about the department and environment.
Lead interaction to maintain safety on the unit and elsewhere in the hospital as required:
Leads the team in containing out of control behavior.
Perform clinical crisis evaluation:
Evaluates psychiatric, cognitive, emotional and behavioral status of a patient in crisis.
Assess ongoing suicide/violence risk.
Assess the need for initial patient and family teaching.
Provide listening skills and crisis intervention.
Provide competent care appropriate to the patient population Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Older Adult:
Assess data relative to age of patient (chronological or cognitive).
Interpret data based on age-specific parameters.
Plan, modify, and deliver care based on age of patient.
Determine immediate plan of care and implements disposition of patient
Report to appropriate medical staff
Coordinate with ED Charge nurse, patient, family, and appropriate external agencies, to formulate an immediate plan of care
Work with professional colleagues to arrive at safe referrals or admission, according to patient’s age, culture and/or developmental stage
Make decisions based on clinical assessment
Qualifications:Required qualifications for this position include:Master's Degree in Social Work, Human Services or Psychosocial/Mental Health Field.
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) OR Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA) OR Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) OR Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate (LICSWA) OR Agency Affiliated Counselor Certification - Within 6 months of hire
AHA BLS upon hire
One (1) year clinical crisis evaluation and intervention in an acute psychiatric setting with an emphasis on quick assessment skills.
