Find your future with us.Boeing Commercial Airplanes' Avionics organization in Everett, WA is looking to hire motivated, self-starting Principal Engineers into its Common Core Systems (CCS) team. Common Core System is the Boeing evolution of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA), providing a high-integrity computing platform and network communication for multiple airborne airplane systems.CCS engineers perform work statement across multiple in-service and development programs and across the product lifecycle – technology development, requirements development, product design, system verification & certification, and product support.Boeing is looking for a Principal Engineer Common Core Systems based out of Everett, Washington .This position is hybrid with the Statement of Work performed onsite. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.Position Responsibilities:Leads co-located and remote teams to provide technical, design, guidance or information support for extremely complex production, product support or in-service issues.

Acquires resources for organizational activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.

Demonstrates creativity, innovation and invention in the development and advancement of technology.

Identifies and documents emerging industry standards in line with company goals

Assumes a leadership role in industry technical committees; publishes papers regarding the development of new technology.

Applies in-depth knowledge of engineering principles and concepts to shape system designs.

Develops architecture and system designs using a high level of ingenuity and innovation to address long-term reliability, cost and quality issues

Develops processes related to analysis and design methodology. Acts as a technical advisor to help solve complex problems.

Acts as a consultant to conduct program independent assessments.

Directs The Boeing Company test program strategy with the intent of improving quality and reducing costs.

Manages and directs sophisticated test programs to resolve critical issues and to investigate future technology applications.

Leads work with customers to develop and document electronic and electrical system requirements on complex multi-tiered projects.

Leads analysis and translation of complex requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.

Leads testing and validation work on complex system designs to assure that operational and functional requirements are met. Works with other to develop program test strategies.

Manages performance of critical suppliers to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

Conducts program independent reviews and reports results to program leadership.

Provides critical support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.

Leads research into technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

Makes recommendations for technology investments.

Recognized as a business unit-wide expert in process development and qualification, physical and functional integration and installation design and resolving supplier technical issues.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or similar

Avionics development and certification processes experience (examples: DO-297, DO-178, DO-330, DO-331, DO-254).

Applies advanced job principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts as well as advanced job practices, techniques, and standards. Recognized as a job expert within the company

Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.

Initiates assignments and determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Work is checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than formal review by a superior

Develops advanced technical ideas and guides their development into final product. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve critical organizational objectives and affect the organization's technological capability and image.

Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Integrated modular avionics (IMA) experience is highly desired.

More than 10 years of engineering experience in systems or electrical engineering, preferably in solid states electronics

Experience in risk management and technical readiness assessment

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience).
