Backend Developer - Remote US Our client, a rising provider of cutting edge maritime software, is looking to add a Sr. Backend developer to its growing team of software engineers. They offer:

Duties:
  • Leverage cutting-edge technology to improve REST and GraphQL APIs
  • Enable data integration with third parties
  • Maintain instances in AWS, replicate databases, make schema changes, (a lot of backend work)
  • Work directly with the time series database
  • Be a quick, enthusiastic learner

Your responsibilities:
  • Contribute to API development (both REST and GraphQL internal API) on top of large-scale IIoT data
  • Maintain and troubleshoot backend web applications to support existing products
  • Develop internal Python tools in support of the operations team
  • Manage SQL databases and work directly in SQL
  • Deploy web-applications and improve continuous integration pipelines
  • Test backend web applications

Requirements:
  • BS in computer science or a related field preferred
  • Strong

    Postgres experience and good understanding of SQL databases
  • Excellent knowledge of

    Python
  • Focus on server-side development including REST and/or GraphQL API development
  • At least 2+ years working on production web applications
  • Good knowledge of AWS tools and provisioning
  • Database Admin (DBA) experience is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with testing technologies such as Pytest and Mocha
  • Knowledge of web-security best practices
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to be flexible in your role
  • Ability to work closely with engineers and non-engineers

Pluses:
  • Experience developing for intermittently connected systems (mobile devices with poor coverage, etc.)
  • Experience with Jenkins or other CI tools
  • Interest/familiarity with edge computing and industrial assets such as engines, generators, PLCs, etc.
  • Ansible, Liquid Base, etc.
