Our client in the Computer Services industry is currently seeking a Cloud Support Engineer.

Cloud Support Engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting Instance automation failures. The production service engineer will work through failure analysis, root cause determination, and driving bug fixes to automation. Instance automation is the lifeline of our cloud infrastructure and performs critical functions to support the ever-growing needs of our customers. Successful candidates will have extensive experience in software development environment(s) participating in dev, test, and operational activities.

Duration: 1 Year ContractHourly Rate: $62/hr - W2, W2 Only (Not open to C2C)Location: Remote - Then Kirkland, WA (beginning September) Overview:The ideal candidate will understand software infrastructure components, including hardware platforms, OS, virtualization, application, databases, web, and application servers. The candidate must have good communication skills and work well in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Work on incidents associated with failed automation.
  • Perform troubleshooting and ensure automation proceeds further after remediation of blocking issues.
  • Create problems (bugs) tickets for issues identified with automation.
  • Work closely with multiple development teams to drive resolution to bugs identified.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide inputs.
  • Maintaining operational, configuration, and other Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage scalable systems that support rapid growth.
  • Operating the Cloud Infrastructure to the highest standards of professionalism and availability
  • Identifying and collaborating with appropriate teams to improve monitoring, automation, and the general quality of the Cloud service

Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of related experience.
  • At least working knowledge of Perl, Python, or another scripting language
  • Familiarity with MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra, or similar technologies
  • Understanding of Apache/Tomcat; some experience with Java is a plus.
  • Experience with systems monitoring and management platforms (Nagios/Icinga, Cacti, Netcool, Puppet, cfengine, chef) at scale is highly desirable

Must have non-negotiable skills required for this role:
  • Troubleshooting and debugging.
  • JavaScript and MySQL proficiency
  • Operational support excellence and escalation handling in a firefighting situation

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience is required.
