The Walla Walla Foundry, in Walla Walla, Washington, is seeking candidates for the position of Fabricator. The position requires operation of state-of-the art manufacturing equipment, including TIG, MIG, and Pulsed Arc welding machines, as well as precision fixturing and inspection tools. The Fabricator will strive to improve fabrication processes and raise awareness of process shortfalls by working closely with manufacturing engineer, project managers, peer welders, and other team members. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Must be proficient in complex custom fabrication with the ability to create custom jigs and fixtures as needed.

Reliably meet or exceed estimated production times.

Lead small teams to foster a high level of performance in others.

Must be proficient in working with specialty alloys such as 300 series stainless, silicon bronze, aluminum, copper, zinc and brass; as well as, wood, resins, epoxies and composite materials.

Perform all types of grinding and finishing skills to Walla Walla Foundry standards. Inspect work to tolerances and specifications called out.

Interpret, perform, and pass inspections for all structural welds.

Set up welder current, amperage, and gas flows to specified settings.

Select electrode type, set tips, and weld to specifications to obtain proper penetration, fusion, and strength.

Maintain welder and equipment.

Position material with forklift, jib, or overhead crane.

Keep work area orderly and safe. Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols.

Participate in leadership committees such as safety committee and employee volunteer programs.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English well enough to accurately follow detailed written procedures and work instructions as well as record and review data; clearly document your work, and talk with fellow workers and managers.

Maintain the mental and physical flexibility to work comfortably with regularly-changing work priorities.

Must be able to communicate effectively and work in a cooperative manner to support a positive team environment.

Engage in active dialogue with project managers and project leads to ensure quality control standards of all unique projects are being met. Must be able to flexibly move between and understand quality control needs of differing projects as needed.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Must be able to recognize standard AWS weld symbols.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding, engineering and material specifications.

Three years of related work experience.

Physical Requirements:

Physical demands include the ability to stand, bend and twist over long periods of time, and engage in repetitive motions of feet, arms and hands. Must be able to work at heights, including climbing ladders and working from scaffolding and/or lifts. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.

Education:

High school graduate (or equivalent). AWS D1.1 certified or able to pass exam within 30 days of hiring.

Wage and Benefits:

Wage negotiable based on experience, and performance during on-site evaluation. Foundry wage for individuals who demonstrate proficiency at listed qualifications ranges from $22.00-$32.00/hour.

Employment contingent on criminal background check and pre-employment physical. A group of Fabricator candidates will be selected to begin a one-week training and trial period each month through September 2019. Candidates must complete a paid one-week training and trial period prior to being offered a full-time position. Orientation and training for monthly trials will occur the second week of each month until September 2019.
