A progressive and inclusive Christian church seeks a half-time Director of Christian Education with experience working in a church setting. The D.C.E. will assist individuals of all ages and families to grow in their commitment and participation in the faith community.

This person would help

attract people to visit the church,

visitors participate in the life of the church,

members become active in the worship, work and witness of the church, and

active members assume leadership responsibilities.

Duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Builds relationships with individuals, helping to match their talents and interests with the work of the church.

Builds teams and empowers them to identify goals and work together.

Helps manage the church website and Facebook page, expanding outreach through social media.

Helps the church identify volunteers and increase participation.

Communicates the calendar of events and team activities.

Brings creativity to programming for meeting the spiritual and social needs of our congregation.

Works directly with the Faith Development, Congregational Life and Justice and Witness Teams.

The Director of Christian Education works under the supervision and direction of the Minister.

Salary: $25,000-30,000, depending upon qualifications and experience.

Hours: 20 hours/week, must include 2-4 hours on Sunday morning, minimum of 10 hours per week fixed office hours, other hours could be in the evenings or flexible. Reduced hours from June to mid-August could be applied to the mid-August to May hours.

Required Qualifications:

Experience in a church setting and passion for building a progressive Christian community

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Commitment to an open and affirming environment

Preferred:

Bachelors Degree

A background in Education, Theology, Community Organizing, or a related field

Knowledge about various faith traditions

Commitment to promoting faith development and building relationships and community
