This is a technical engineering position focusing on the design, development, test, production, and delivery of battery systems for the Project Kuiper satellite program.

Key job responsibilitiesYou will work effectively across multiple technical domains in battery system design and drive cross-functional efforts to ensure success in delivery of the battery system. You will also use your battery expertise to drive the data generated by pack test systems, hardware-in-the-loop testbeds, and in-orbit satellite constellation, and develop tools to review and interpret data to support the development of software models, state estimators, pass/fail criteria in development, acceptance, and qualification testing, and failure/root-cause investigations.

Export Control Requirement:Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

About the teamProject Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in design, development, validation, or deployment of high energy and/or high power lithium battery systems or electric powertrains where safety and hazard mitigations are a concern.
  • 1+ years of experience processing, handling, and visualizing data in a scripting or programming language (Python, MATLAB, C).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Requirements Management
  • Experience working across multiple technical domains to ensure the successful implementation and integration of complex systems (electrical, software, thermal, etc)
  • Experience in control systems and modeling
  • Comfort reading electrical schematics
  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
