Come work on one of the most complicated build systems in the world, responsible for producing the Windows Operating System that powers over 1 billion devices across the globe, Azure, XBox, Windows Mixed Reality and more.The Core Build team owns the build orchestration and analysis tools in the Windows Build System. We partner with product teams across Microsoft and with other Engineering System teams to ensure the reliability and security of our build service. As with any system that grows organically over 30 years, it takes perseverance, courage, and plenty of elbow grease to maintain and extend the Windows Build.Our team is looking for engineers that are excited to take on the challenge of understanding a complex system and working on forward-looking solutions, all the while ensuring this critical system that affects thousands of developers every day is always operational. This is a formidable task, but what makes the team proud is seeing the direct impact of our improvements on the daily experience of our fellow Microsoft developers.ResponsibilitiesDebug build failures caused by infrastructure and build tools
Partner with other teams to integrate new workflows into the build system
Improve usability, reliability and efficiency of the core build tools and legacy systems
Ensure team processes and build service meets all security and compliance requirements
Analyze data to identify performance and reliability improvements in the build
QualificationsRequired Qualifications2+ years of coding experience with C, C#, Java or similar language
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Independent learner who is able to work in many different and unfamiliar codebases
Preferred QualificationsExcellent communication skills
Scripting experience, particularly with PowerShell, Perl, and Windows Batch scripting
Demonstrated skill in time management and completing software projects in a cooperative team environment
