Description

We are seeking a Testing and Triage Engineer to support the Xbox Testing Automation workflows as well as sustain the research and development environment for Microsoft's Xbox and Live gaming platforms, including multiple Development/Test labs.

Areas of expertise will be focused on

triaging automated testing, debugging tools and bug identification, Daily responsibilities will include but not be limited to working on a daily, structured,

triaging workflow. Daily responsibilities can also include managing and troubleshooting Xbox automation infrastructure. As a member of this team, you will be expected to adhere to policies and procedures unique to our environment and roles. Additional responsibilities may include threat and vulnerability management, hardware onboarding and decommission, virtualization, network and connectivity troubleshooting, group policy management, monitoring alert triage and resolution, Xbox testing, storage solutions, Azure support and limited application support, Windows systems administration, and technical support for a mixed Windows and Xbox console environment, including a familiarity with administration via PowerShell and scripted automation. This position coordinates with other System Engineers, Operations Staff, and Management to provide support for reliable and efficient IT business solutions.

NOTE: This role will be 100% remote to start but over time will evolve into a hybrid role requiring up to 50% of time eventually being spent on-site. Ideal candidate would be a drivable distance from the MSFT campus.

Responsibilities

• Triaging daily Xbox Automation test passes within specialized Windows automation systems

• Performing high-level Windows debugger commands to help identify possible bugs

• Creating bugs within Azure Dev Ops and assigning them to responsible Devs

• Monitoring Automation DG for Dev support requests including repos, validation, and data collection

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

• Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft products.

• Outstanding communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal.

• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to automate basic operational tasks

• Ability to learn quickly in fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work with little supervision and pro-actively propose process improvements.

• Adheres to company standards, methodology, confidentiality, and security requirements.

• Consistently demonstrates a high level of integrity and professionalism, while also values teamwork, clear communication, and willingness to coach peers.

• Able to estimate man hours, plan, organize time, and foster a collaborative culture.

• Willingness to learn new procedures and technologies quickly

Physical On-Site Requirements:

·24x7 On-Call support of limited services, shared across the team

·This is a lab engineering job which requires the ability to work in both labs and datacenters being on your feet for long periods of time and the remainder sitting at a desk for extended periods of time performing system admin work, troubleshooting consoles, updating inventory, sending reports and responding to email.

·The ability to lift and rack servers in the labs and data centers. (The ability to lift 75 lbs.)

·The ability to install shelves, switches, servers, and other infrastructure equipment. (Use of tools like a screwdriver and/or drill while at odd angles to fasten the equipment.)

·The ability to cable equipment on racks and benches.(Requires the use of hands while body is at odd angles to pull cables through tight spaces and cinch Velcro down tight.)

·The ability to walk lab or data center aisles, visually inspect equipment and perform audits.(The ability to bend over and kneel.)
