VOLT is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for our client in Seattle, WA. This is 100% Remote contingent role estimated of 6 months with high possibility of extension.This individual will be accountable for the development and implementation of semantic data layers, such as Business Objects Universes and custom database objects (enabling self-service solutions) for users and our Community Connect clients.This position will support major Epic initiatives, including go lives, new implementations, upgrades and optimizations; as well as support legacy for new affiliations pending Epic go lives. Qualifications:Required qualifications for this position include:
  • 10+ years of experience with SQL Server
  • 7+ Data warehouse experience. Tabular or Multidimensional.
  • 3+ year experience with data warehousing using Snowflakes.
  • 5+ years of experience with Power BI
  • 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
  • 5+ years of experience - Build, test and refine data ADF (Azure Data Factory) pipelines for data analytics and business intelligence (BI)
  • Developing and implementing different aggregations, features, and building data pipelines to solve problems related to the healthcare industry
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • CI/CD solutions
  • DevOps principles
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data/technical architecture utilizing primarily Oracle SQL, Business Objects, and Toad.
  • Requires understanding of full Healthcare Intelligence (HI) offerings (SQL Developer, Tableau, SAP Hana) to ensure duplicative solutions are not provided and existing HI offerings are leveraged.
  • Create Business Objects universes and custom database objects required to build the underlying semantic layer for fulfilling business needs.
  • Leverages detailed knowledge of performance data warehouse tuning techniques to manage system performance and capacity.
  • Create functional requirements and technical specifications documentation.
  • Work closely with the end user to define requirements, understanding what is needed to answer the business question (which may be different from what is asked).
  • Demonstrate an open willingness to listen and learn clinical or business needs, then create standard universes that are of excellent quality, as measured by performance, data integrity, and following HI coding standards.
  • Universes should also provide complex and integrated answers to a suite of questions.
  • Periodically review and update universes, reviewing usage, optimizing for performance, and enhancing with new content to ensure continued relevance and tracking with regulatory, environmental, and business changes.
  • Partner with the strategic data consultants when reviewing new business requirements to inform and develop roadmaps with timelines for universes.
  • Partner with EMR business intelligence analysts and other HI teams to provide rich training content for the end user.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of the technical aspects of applications and integrated tools, as well as client/server and host-based systems.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of all aspects of design, development and testing, and best practices of enterprise relational databases (i.e. Oracle, SQL).
  • Demonstrate experience in the application of data management practices, logical data design, data modeling, and abstraction.
  • Develop a fluency in the HI 1-page summary to fully understand the scope of HI delivered solutions.
  • Ensure all universe design enhances the suite of HI solutions (by avoiding duplication, and collaborating and communicating across teams).
  • Maintain current knowledge of epic capabilities and roadmap, to ensure designed solutions are current and take the best advantage of epic capabilities.
  • Lead discussions and present conclusions and recommendations for technical design and approach.
  • Develop universes in accordance with relevant PHI and other security measures, given their self-serve nature and purpose.
    Preferred qualifications for this position include:
    • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Services, Public Health, Business Management.
    • 5 years clinical, financial, or operational experience.
