About the Role Uber Freight's mission is to simplify the movement of goods to help communities thrive. Freight industry is the lifeblood of the economy. Trucking is essential to keep our economy healthy and stores stocked not just with the everyday essentials we need but also with a lot of mission critical supplies. We're looking for experienced, passionate mobile developers to join Uber Freight's Carrier Experience team, a cross-functional group in which Backend, Android and iOS engineers work collaboratively to design and build products for carriers to maximize their revenue and flexibility. Our primary product is a mobile application that helps Uber Freight's goal of automating the freight industry by giving carriers the ability to book their own loads and control their own schedules. We are a #carrierobsessed team, and care deeply about our users and continually look for opportunities to improve their lives. Since launch, we've changed the lives of thousands of carriers across the country, liberating them from the opaque brokerage process, and offering transparency in pricing and scheduling. The team must keep in-mind the demands of the role, and how to make life easier during the trip, and reduce the administrative steps that accompany each load. What the Candidate Will Do As an eng on the team, you're helping abstract and model a complex industry, and coming up with innovative ways to integrate and automate the very steps that transport products every day. You'll be very close to business concerns, working alongside Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists and Operators, to understand what's most important, and translating that to systems, designs, and code that best solves for today, as well as plans for tomorrow. At your disposal will be the tools that helped Uber grow to be a worldwide company, as well as new and upcoming tech from our AI Labs and Machine Learning teams. Comprised of Uber veterans and newcomers, we are looking for candidates who share our enthusiasm for disrupting today's toughest challenges in transportation. You will build user-facing products - the work you do will impact every single Uber Freight request. You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality products with fast iterations. A general eye for business concerns, combined with an acumen for systems that scale will be necessary. Basic Qualifications 5+ years hands on experience with iOS development Strong focus on high-quality mobile UI experiences Experience analyzing a feature in production using analytics and experiments Experience collaborating on projects and working efficiently as part of a team. Deep understanding of iOS SDK Preferred Qualifications Experience developing in Swift Experience in any other languages such as Java, Kotlin or Javascript Experience with open source libraries like Retrofit, RxJava, Dagger 2, Lottie Contribute to the wider iOS community via open source BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field
