Job Description

The Software Infrastructure group is comprised of three teams; Development & Deployment Productivity, Enterprise Monitoring, and Events Messaging Services. Together, we are responsible for supporting critical company databases (DB2, MongoDB, PostGreSQL), messaging (Kafka), monitoring (Elastic, Opsview), and deployment (Kubernetes, Rancher, Gitlab, Chef, Jenkins, Mattermost) tools.

The Systems Analyst represents the team as Product Owner and is a key member of an agile team responsible for crafting stories, prioritizing the team backlog, sync with other product owners, and pass relevant information back to the team. They also serve as the customer proxy and are responsible for working with Product Management and other stakeholders to define and prioritize stories for their team. Additionally, the Systems Analyst works with Product Management to define and set the strategic vision of Software Infrastructure and drive outcomes. They are accountable to both Product Management and IS stakeholders to deliver value through the team’s software development outputs. The SA has a fundamental understanding of the business and/or technical domain for which the team is responsible. As such, the SA must be able to give direction to development team members so that they understand how each of their individual contributions align with the program objectives and overall company vision.

The Systems Analyst must have a keen understanding of the product’s value proposition to the customer, in order to guide the ongoing development of their product to achieve customer satisfaction. As such, the SA has a significant role in outcome-focused quality control and is the only team member empowered to accept stories as done.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, refine, and prioritize team backlog in alignment with the program vision and roadmap
  • Draft specific team objectives for each Iteration and Program Increment (PI)
  • Clearly define story acceptance criteria and accept stories into the team backlog
  • Ensure that products and associated features are completed with quality and meet the needs of customers
  • Participate in team demos, reviews, and retrospectives with an eye toward continuous improvement
  • Prepare for Program activities, including PI Planning, System Demos, Backlog Grooming, and Inspect and Adapt

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of Project or Program Management experience
  • Experience with DevSecOps, Lean, or SAFe/Agile development framework
  • Proficiency with the system development lifecycle
  • Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide spectrum of people
  • Experienced problem solver, strong collaborator and able to provide clarity around complex technical topics
  • Assertive personality, including outcome driven leadership and a bias for action

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PO/PM SAFe Certification, or willingness to obtain
  • Exposure to the Monitoring and CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) technologies
  • Background in systems administration/engineering
  • Familiarity with SaaS
