Job Description
The Software Infrastructure group is looking for a Configuration Engineer (Technologist) to join our Development and Deployment Systems team. As a part of this team, you will have the opportunity to help shape the future of cloud native technologies at Expeditors.

As a Configuration Engineer, you will empower our development teams to be autonomous, assist in the configuration of applications to ensure stability and performance, and handle communication and scheduling surrounding these systems. You will be innovative and proactive – constantly reviewing our current processes, the needs of our customers, and the performance of the application to continually improve our development and production systems.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Excellent verbal skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences to drive adoption of new platforms to meet business goals
- Demonstrate the ability to research and implement solutions to build a highly reliable and scalable Kubernetes platform
- Desire to introduce tools to facilitate greater automation and operability of platform services
- Experienced in UNIX/LINUX scripting (PERL, Bash, Python, etc.)
- Proficient with build and deployment tools such as Chef, Jenkins, or Ansible, or similar
- Experienced with GitLab and GitLab Runners, Maven and Nexus, or similar
- Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems in a technical lead role
- Experience working with cloud native applications, container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Rancher/RKE or Google GKE highly desired
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
- Able to formulate and implement a design strategy from a mix of business requirements, concept documents, and verbal descriptions
- Experience in Java, Tomcat, Apache/Nginx, Angular and related technologies
- Proficient working with Virtual Machines on premise and in the cloud
- Familiar with SAFe methodologies
- Strong grasp of automation tools
