Data Center Engineer for a

Contract assignment with one of our premier

SaaS clients in

Hillsboro, OR. Our Clients' Infrastructure Team is seeking a Data Center Engineer to serve as part of a small remote team in Hillsboro, OR. Each member of this team shares responsibility for the continuous operation of the many systems in this near-new facility. Only candidates who exemplify our core values will be considered. Responsibilities :
  • Unbox, receive, rack, repair, retire, and recycle all systems within the environments.
  • Install and configure data center infrastructure components.
  • Run and terminate structured cabling of various types (copper, fiber, etc.)
  • Maintain data center documentation in various online databases.
  • Document ongoing activities in ticketing system.
  • Provide analysis and reporting on data center activities, trends, etc.
  • Maintain best practices and document in various areas as needed.
  • Assume responsibilities for projects of various sizes as needed.
  • Help maintain inventories of spare parts, supplies, tools, etc.

Required

Skills:
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of Data Center Operations experience is required.
  • Experience should be in an enterprise environment with > 1,000 systems total.
  • Experience installing, upgrading, and troubleshooting/repairing enterprise-class computing systems.
  • Experience with SAN/WAN/LAN technologies.
  • Experience terminating, testing, & certifying copper and fiber infrastructure.
  • Experience managing data center infrastructure projects is required.
  • Be able to work independently from a ticket queue with no supervision.
  • Be able to work as part of a team on large ongoing projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication & documentation skills are important.
  • Must be completely dependable & responsive. This is a small team, and every player is critical for the success of the team.
  • Must be always ready to learn. The technology and best practices are always changing and improving.
  • Must be able to multi-task under pressure from multiple competing deadlines.
  • A good sense of humor and great patience for life's curve balls will be very helpful in this position.
