Title: Sr. Database Engineer

Location: Seattle, WA

Duration: Fulltime + All Benefits (insurance, paid vacation/leave, 401(k),etc.)

Position Summary: The Software Engineer II, Database activelycontributes to Relational database and Azure Data pipeline & data platformdevelopment, design, architecture, review, enhancing & creating newfeatures within Virtuoso’s marketing and reporting platform, and supportingcritical production issues.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may

be assigned.1. Work effectively with team and product owners to define & clarifyrequirements, perform detailed analysis, and develop robust &maintainable solutions meeting business requirements2. Analyze, plan, develop, deploy, and manage a large scalabledistributed relational database system.3. Create automation SQL tests for unit, integration, regression,performance, and build verification4. Understand and apply the advanced principles of entity-relationshipmodel design, good data typing practices, index management, datamanagement, and data security.5. Write a reliable and maintainable code at each layer of the productdevelopment.6. Research and prototype new product & database features, design, andarchitecture ahead of mainstream development.7. Proactively initiate & contribute to system improvements andinnovations.8. Provide support to troubleshoot and resolve technical & performanceissues in a production environment.9. Review designs, code, and test plans of other developers and providerecommendations for improvement or optimizations10.Build and support Microservice and Stateless architecture11.Follow defined software development lifecycle best practices.12.Work effectively with management and members to clarify needs andpriorities.

RequirementsBatchelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalentwork experience.8+ years of SQL Server database development and design experience.

Skills, Abilities, ExperienceExpert-level knowledge of SQL, TSQL, performance tuning, QueryPlans, and Query Plan optimization for TSQL.Expert level development knowledge in SQL Server 2008-2016including all latest features introduced in SQL Server 2014, 2016 &2019Advance-level knowledge of developing complex Data WarehousesAdvance-level knowledge of CI/CD using Azure DevOps to supportData Platform & Microservice projectsDevelopment experience of Snowflake cloud computing datawarehouse.Intermediate-level knowledge of developing solutions usingC#/Python, and REST API.Experience in developing a relational & non-relational dataplatform/data pipeline using Azure cloud solutionsDemonstrated experience in working with at least one scriptinglanguage such as PowerShell, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc. with the intentto automate manual tasks (monitoring, deployments, testing, etc.)Strong technical and communication skills.Desire and ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervisionin a results-oriented, fast-paced, dynamic environment.Experience in managing and developing SQL Server, BI Suite,database custom tools using SQL Server Data Tools/Visual Studio2015-2019 IDE’s.Advance-level experience in Azure DevOps/GIT repository.

Preferred:o Database architecture and designing experience.o Travel industry experience; or Ecommerce experience with CRMor online sales.o PowerShell scripting knowledge.o Advance level knowledge in automation test creation.o Experience/Knowledge integrating new technologies (e.g.,Hadoop) with traditional RDBMSo Experience/Knowledge in the Hadoop ecosystem: Spark, Kafka,Hive, HiveQL, Map Reduce, Yarn, HDFS, etc

Travel RequirementsTravel is rarely required for this position. (0-1 trips per year)Any travel will be entirely domestic.
