South Puget Sound Community College seeks a highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of HVAC Technician in Facilities.
This position will serve as a HVAC technician, responsible for testing, repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment on the Mottman and Lacey campuses. The position will support college efforts toward sustainability and energy conservation. This position will also serve in the role of maintenance mechanic as needed.

What You'll Do
Perform the work of an HVAC Technician:
Install, maintain, diagnose and repair HVAC equipment
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
Analyze and maintain controls systems; work with Metasys and Honeywell HVAC control systems
Monitor and adjust building heating and cooling; work closely with the Energy and Sustainability Program Manager to achieve the best results
Operate and maintain testing instruments and equipment
Perform duties of a maintenance mechanic; provide support to other Facilities staff:
Review and close out assigned Megamation work orders
Participate in capital projects/meetings related to HVAC needs
Assist with grant and other incentive programs
Qualifications You Possess
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of recognized apprenticeship in refrigeration or steamfitter trades OR Full journey-level status in Plumbers and Pipefitters Union OR Five years of applicable experience in the refrigeration or steamfitter trades or a combination of the two. Vocational or trade school training as a steamfitter or refrigeration mechanic will substitute, year for year, for work experience up to a maximum of two years. OR Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in HVAC work, and principles of operation of HVAC systems
Two years’ experience working in the HVAC field or equivalent skills and training
Strong commitment to customer service.
Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and written.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Strong leadership skills.
Ability to work independently, perform multiple tasks and accommodate interruptions.
Ability to work well under pressure.
