SUMMARY

The Museum of Flight is looking for service-driven people to join our Visitor Services Team. The Visitor Services (VS) Assistant works with the public and are usually the first and last people with whom our visitors interact. All Visitor Services Assistants should extend a courteous and friendly greeting to visitors upon their arrival, provide information on a wide range of topics in regards to their visit to the Museum as well as local attractions and information. When appropriate duties include selling admission tickets, as well as a variety of add-on activities to enhance the visitor experience, such as tours, movie theater tickets, memberships and more. VS Assistant are present and engaging with visitors in a variety of areas within our expansive campus; beyond the admissions desk, they staff areas such as simulators, Space Gallery, theater, Aviation Pavilion, parking lots, Membership desk, special exhibit areas, tours, and private events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide friendly and informative customer service in greeting and servicing visitors and tour groups throughout their visit at the Museum.
  • Ring in sales and perform cash handling with a high level of accuracy, balancing at the end of the day.
  • Be fully informed about daily Museum events, and the Museum facility itself. This includes familiarity with membership levels, special presentations or benefits, audio guides, add-on experiences such as theater and tour tickets, simulators and other Museum revenue offerings to be an effective salesperson.
  • Be familiar with assigned work area insuring you have up-to-date knowledge in order to provide accurate information and the best customer service possible. Direct visitors to other Museum departments for additional services, such as facility rentals, volunteer opportunities, development, or collections.
  • When working at the Flight Simulators, demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the operational and safety guidelines, flight control instructions and emergency procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • 6 months working or volunteering in a highly customer-oriented service environment required, 1 year preferred
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills and have demonstrated experience working with a diverse population
  • Superior attention to detail is required
  • Displays courteous and friendly demeanor; demonstrated experience directing and assisting guests or customers
  • Demonstrated experience using computers and handling cash
  • Must show professional phone/radio etiquette skills

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • At time of job offer candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Customer service/client driven focus with a positive, collaborative, solution-based attitude that stays within and upholds the Museum's policies and procedures
  • Onsite attendance is essential to perform the duties of this position
  • This is a flexible 0-29 hour workweek position and requires being available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.
