Job Summary: As Molbak's Merchandise Manager, you will develop, communicate and drive long-term merchandising strategies that meet or exceed financial goals and customer expectations; motivate and coach the Merchandising team to be customer-focused, innovative, fast and team-oriented in their work; communicate the seasonal merchandising vision and ensure that short-term initiatives are aligned with long-term strategies; model smart risk-taking in investment strategies; be a role model and mentor within the company.

Merchandising Accountabilities:

Develop and execute the annual merchandise strategic plan to align with Molbak's overall financial and experiential objectives.

Drive strategic development and management of product assortments and categories.

Guide the open to buy process. Maintain margin targets and inventory levels to meet GMROI metrics.

Forecast and respond to emerging consumer buying behaviors.

Develop seasonal merchandise event strategy.

Develop and communicate strategic merchandise visions and goals from a customer and marketplace perspective to respective cross functional partners.

Collaborate with leadership team during the Merchandise Financial Planning process to provide business specific insights and findings.

Provide ongoing guidance to Buyers to ensure Merchandise strategies and product assortment plans meet financial objectives for sales and margins while contributing to enhancing the customer in-store experience.

Attend industry trade shows, markets and events to observe and remain current on relevant market trends, gather product information, select merchandise and vendors, and establish and build on business relationships.

Foster strong relationships with key vendors to ensure that partnerships deliver great products and expected financial results.

Collaborate with Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Retail Operations to produce programs that enhance the Molbak's brand experience, build customer traffic and deliver a return on investment.

Review and approve promotion and markdown strategies from Buyers.

Manage a high quality and motivated merchandising team by developing partnerships, leading, coaching and providing constructive feedback.

Lead initiatives to ensure best practices and appropriate support infrastructure.

Foster an environment that welcomes change and that promotes high levels of ingenuity and creative thinking, risk tolerance, and collaboration.

Leadership Responsibilities:

Create and maintain a cooperative and motivated team environment that promotes high performance standards and attainment of goals.

Demonstrate excellent leadership, management and people development skills. Accurately assess employee strengths and developmental needs.

Align resources appropriately to build an organization that is set up for success.

Create and maintain a learning environment where the development of employees is a priority.

Build strong working relationships with Sr. Leadership, Retail Operations, Visual Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, and other organizations as needed.

Consistent attendance required.

Other duties assigned by Manager.

Education/Experience Requirements:

At least 8 to 10 years of merchandise buying experience with five or more years in a leadership role as Senior Buyer or Merchandise Manager.

Bachelors degree or equivalent education/experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Demonstrated entrepreneurial ability, including risk tolerance, innovative thinking and the ability to encourage creative and diverse thought in others

Ability to think strategically, conceptually, and creatively and be able to articulate a vision that is sharable by key stakeholders.

Agility in leadership style and flexibility of approach; can think strategically (high level) and tactically (to drive execution).

Must be the market facing expert for the business making decisions based on customer wants and needs.

Excellent networking skills. Can build and leverage cross functional partnerships within and outside of the organization.

Strong gut instinct and passion for products.

Formulates long term goals and shorter-term tactical plans that are cost effective, efficient and realistic.

Clear and effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Track record of planning, driving and achieving results.

The ability to work sitting, standing and walking for prolonged periods is required.

Must be able to lift up to 25lbs throughout the day and occasionally heavier objects/items. When lifting heavy objects/items, it is expected that the associate will utilize the assistance of other teammates or tools such as hand trucks, pot lifters, and pallet jacks in order to lift items safely.

Working Environment:

Molbak's offices are located at our location in Woodinville, WA, which includes a standard office environment as well as an indoor/outdoor retail environment. Some exposure to variations in weather and temperature can be expected. The ability to work sitting, standing and walking for prolonged periods is required.
