I'm an author and independent journalist seeking an editorial assistant to help with a number of ongoing projects, including a new series of books. Work includes updating a Wordpress site, posting to social media, reading/proofing, brainstorming, some research, helping get out a monthly newsletter, that sort of thing. A key part of the role is keeping me on target.
About 90% of the work can be done remotely, but there will be some in-person socially distant meetups likely needed from time to time, so someone based in the general Seattle area is strongly preferred.
I write about food and travel, so someone with a passion for either or both is a great fit. Hours are pretty flexible, about 10 hours per week with Zoom meetings twice per week. I expect this will be a side gig, so I'm happy to work around other employment/school/kid schedules. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to work independently would be great.
I realize that my pay isn't super high but if you're an aspiring writer or author, I am happy to share what and who I know to help you realize your own ambitions or dreams.
Experience doing design/layout (e.g. InDesign or MS Publisher) or photo editing are a huge plus but not required.
Compensation: $18 per hour paid as cash via direct deposit. This is a contract/1099 role.
