Oregon Sports News (OregonSportsNews.com) is the fastest growing sports website in the Pacific Northwest. Our writing staff covers all teams in Oregon and Washington, along with running, fitness, biking, and other outdoor activities.
Our goal at Oregon Sports News has always been to provide enough quality content to make ourselves a consistent daily resource for commentary for all of your favorite sports teams in the region. In order to do so, it requires building a strong team of writers and there are opportunities here to join our team to help us do so.
Prior experience writing in an online platform is always beneficial, but certainly not required. A number of our former writers have gone on to full time roles at local newspapers or national publications. For details, check out our testimonials - http://oregonsportsnews.com/write.
We average over 6,500 unique visitors a week. This is primarily due to our amazing partnerships with Seattle Post-Intelligencer, NBC Sports Northwest, KGW (NBC affiliate), OregonLive, 750 The Game, GoLocalPDX, and more. These partners post many of our columns on their site. That's right your work could be seen on all of these avenues.
Although this is currently a non-paying position, this is a terrific opportunity for an aspiring writer to get noticed. There is no long-term obligation and its really for fun (seriously!) We do meet up quarterly to discuss the site over food and drinks. There, you can meet up with all your fellow writers. We also have monthly awards.
We are looking more for commentary pieces rather than game recaps.
