The Inspection Technician is responsible for the operation of a revolutionary track inspection system which has a sophisticated array of image sensing devices and retrieves data from the bed of a hi-rail vehicle or is responsible for assembling, collecting data, and uploading the specialized aggregate delivery system in service for the Railroad. The Inspection Technician position progresses through 2 levels of operation.
- Operator Level I - This is an entry level position up to competent operation of the Aurora/Aurora Tie Marking or GateSync equipment. Operates, troubleshoots, and repairs Aurora/Aurora Tie Marking or GateSync equipment. Operate equipment per the instructions from the Railroad Customer under their direction with little or no supervision.
- Inspection Technician is an advanced level position requires an in-depth understanding of the Aurora/Aurora Tie Marking or GateSync equipment. Operates, troubleshoots, and repairs Aurora or GateSync equipment. Operate equipment per the instructions from the Railroad Customer under their direction with little or no supervision.
- Attend continuing Company internal and customized training.
- Drive a hi-rail vehicle on tracks throughout the USA and operate the image sensing equipment and software with little to no supervision.
- Monitor data flow during the data collection cycle, backup data and stream data to LTI offices at the end of every workday.
- Manage and maintain a highly technical data acquisition system.
- Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance, including but not limited to, diagnosing equipment failures, selecting the method of repair, performing mechanical adjustments (solely or assisted by a mechanic), use typical mechanic and electrician tools to test equipment, and dismantle, repair, and reassemble various components of equipment.
- Clean debris and lubricants from parts, work area, and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and fix equipment, paint system and computer problems.
- Perform advanced calibrations and ODTs and make necessary adjustments
- Ability to recognize and troubleshoot computer and hardware related issues
- Communicate any problems experienced to engineering in a timely manner.
- Produce daily reports to supervisors and internal and external customers.

Obtain a DOT Health card (Aurora Operations)
Maintain a valid Driver’s License, in order to be insurable by the Company insurance company.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Ability to perform well under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to work with a wide variety of people and personalities.
- Ability to take extensive travel assignments of 21-30 days in a row and driving long hours. Able to fly to job sites and work during the weekends if required.

Working knowledge with operations of data acquisition systems.
