Northwest Justice Project (NJP) is a not-for-profit law firm whose mission is to combat injustice, strengthen communities and promote human dignity through high quality legal representation, community partnerships, education and other advocacy to mitigate systemic barriers experienced by our client communities. NJP is the largest publicly funded civil legal aid organization in Washington with 19 offices located throughout the state providing legal services to low income persons and their communities.

NJPs Spokane office seeks applicants for a Receptionist/Office Assistant. This is a full-time position.

Duties include:

Greet callers and visitors and make initial determination of their needs.

Answer multi-line telephones, direct callers, take messages, answer inquiries, and make referrals to other providers or agencies as appropriate.

Use and manage translation and interpretation services as needed.

Manage mail, electronic mail, and service of legal documents.

General office duties as assigned (letters, brochures, flyers, faxes, copying, courthouse runs, etc.).

Scan and log ingoing and outgoing calls, reminders, correspondence, pleadings, and other documents into NJPs Document Management System.

Assist legal assistants with calendaring court dates and other appointments for attorneys.

Schedule maintenance for building issues and forward appropriate paperwork.

Monitor office supplies and order supplies as necessary.

Prepare initial files for attorneys.

Break down closed files and scan all documents into Legal Server.

Maintain storage files at off-site storage.

Provide back-up to legal assistant team with administrative tasks as requested

Expectations:

Demonstrate sensitivity to and strive to understand the values, cultures and concerns of NJPs client communities.

Maintain a constructive, professional working relationship with individual clients, client communities, the legal community, agencies who serve our clients, program staff, and the larger communities we serve.

Be (or become) capable in basic job duties and grow through training and experience to handle increasingly complex job duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Reception and/or scheduling helpful

experience with legal databases (such as JIS, SCOMIS, JABS, Spokane County Document Viewer)

Familiarity with Skype for Business helpful

Experience working with low-income clients or in a legal setting is preferred.

SALARY Range: Starting salary is based upon years of experience, with an annual salary range starting at $41,380 annually/$22.74 per hour. NJP offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes 100% paid employee health premiums and significant premium shares for family health premiums, as well as generous time off.

Hours of Work: 9:00 a.m. “ 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
